Grand Theft Auto VI or GTA 6 was formally announced earlier in 2022, although this announcement was merely a statement that the game was in fact being developed. Although this was expected, Rockstar’s decision to finally acknowledge the upcoming Grand Theft Auto game was a significant revelation.
But soon after the announcement, there was a significant GTA 6 leak inside Rockstar. This includes a video of the game’s progress up to the alpha stage and perhaps a glimpse of the setting. How GTA 6 truly ends remains to be known, despite the vast quantity of material that has been revealed through leaks. Many unanswered questions remain, including the possibility of a 2024 release date and the identity of the main character (or key characters).
This website will compile all verified information regarding Grand Theft Auto 6, including Rockstar News and industry rumors. We won’t make any direct links to the leaks. Instead, you’ll get some speculative information based on the gameplay and system screenshots from a very early development build. This page is routinely updated as new information becomes available so that you may stay informed about everything GTA 6-related.

What is GTA 6 Release Date?
Rockstar Games has officially revealed that GTA 6 is in development, although the company hasn’t provided any release information, much less confirmed a date. Current and former Rockstar employees claim that GTA 6 won’t be released until at least 2024.
Additionally, in a press release announcing Take-Two Interactive’s purchase of mobile game developer Zynga, “Looking ahead, the combined company is expected to achieve a compound annual growth rate of 14%… over a three-year period from Take-fiscal Two’s year 2021 to 2024,” read a note in the section titled “Strategic Rationale and Shareholder Value Creation.”
As a retort, a Jefferies analyst was reported by Stephen Totilo of Axios on Twitter as saying: “There are only a few titles that can… such a powerful benchmark; we anticipate at least one Rockstar IP package will be published by FY24.”
This rise almost exactly matches insider Tom Henderson’s projection of GTA 6’s release in 2024. A well-known insider who is most renowned for his (usually) accurate Call of Duty and Battlefield game previews shared a video online that purportedly revealed a lot of GTA 6 information. Based on his sources, Henderson states that the release of GTA 6 won’t happen until 2024 or 2025.

Since then, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has confirmed Henderson’s prediction. Henderson’s assertions “[match] up with what I’ve heard,” he previously stated on Twitter. Henderson’s report from earlier this year confirmed that Rockstar has been working to change its workplace culture.
A 2024 release appears to be a relatively safe bet, but one source says it might just be wishful thinking. Despite the team having hit a significant operational milestone, according to Rockstar Mag creator Chris Klippel (who has previously accurately leaked Rockstar Game news), he doesn’t anticipate Grand Theft Auto to be released before the end of 2024.
Klippel tweeted, “I think a (genuine) year-end announcement might be conceivable. The game won’t likely be launched before the end of 2024, in any case.
Therefore, it might be more accurate to estimate 2025 as 2024–2025.
The Roadmap for Take-Fiscal Two’s Years 2023–25 is available at this URL as of May 16, 2022.
GTA 6 Trailer: Can I watch one soon?

Sadly, Rockstar Games failed to offer a GTA 6 trailer along with their announcement, indicating that the publisher is approaching the unveiling of Grand Theft Auto 6 in a different way than its prior games. Days before releasing the initial trailers for GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games teased the announcement for both games.
However, Rockstar chose not to hype the announcement at all or release a trailer this time; instead, it simply included the announcement as part of the community message, making it difficult to know when a trailer would be released. It’s important to note that while we’ve seen gameplay from a leaky early-September release, it doesn’t always reflect the final product.
In either case, you’ll know if a Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer surfaces because the internet will go crazy. Of course, we’ll also let you know.
GTA 6 Map: Where and when will GTA 6 take place?

There are several theories indicating different settings for GTA 6, but Rockstar Games hasn’t verified where the game will take us. The Internet is full of tasty tidbits and gossip, but some of it is more water than others.
Most likely, Vice City, Rockstar’s fictional Miami, or at least a fictional Miami, will be the setting for GTA 6. Although Rockstar’s initial intentions for GTA 6 seem to have been more grandiose, the aforementioned Bloomberg story states that a source “close to the point” suggests that Vice City will debut in GTA 6. Leaked gameplay footage, including one that featured the Vice City Metro train, attests to this.
According to a report by Bloomberg, GTA 6 initially featured sizable regions that were based in the Americas. Although “the game’s environment remains wide, with more interior areas than previous Grand Theft Auto games,” it appears that this scope has been reduced to concentrate on Vice City and its surroundings.
The map won’t stay static, though, the article claims. After GTA 6 is released, Rockstar wants to update it with more cities and inland areas; these upgrades should be much more substantial than those for GTA 5. The goal is to reduce stress over time while still allowing the creators enough room to build the game’s expansive landscape. Additionally, once the game is available, you will have new regions to discover. Rockstar intends to “regularly” introduce new locations and quests to the game, giving us new places to explore and hopefully relieving some of the burdens on the team. This is according to Bloomberg.

In addition, Liquor Tom Henderson said that while Vice City would to some part exist in GTA 6, the game’s area is not as expansive as earlier reports suggested.
Henderson also asserts that GTA 6 will be set in the present rather than the 1980s or 1990s. Because the developers wanted “maximum freedom to release as many DLCs as possible,” it is obvious that this is done to ensure that the main game “matches” GTA Online.
Henderson though didn’t limit his information to GTA 6. According to the leaker, the GTA Online that will be published alongside GTA 6 will include a dynamic map that can alter each time a new DLC for GTA 6 is released. Henderson compared this map to the Fortnite map and added that the “default” map of GTA Online would receive updates with the release of GTA 6 that include new regions and an expansion of the map.
Henderson warned viewers to take these claims with a grain of salt because he is “not known for GTA 6 leaks” and that his sources may not be as trustworthy as they are for his Call of Duty and Battlefield leaks.
We believe that a return to Vice City is now assured due to the rumors listed above and how it appears in the leaked build. But aside from that, Rockstar has yet to formally declare where GTA 6 will take place.
GTA 6 Story & characters: what to expect

Although Rockstar Games hasn’t officially confirmed Grand Theft Auto 6’s plot or cast of characters, reports, and rumors may give us a hint as to what to anticipate.
According to Bloomberg, GTA 6 will have the first female protagonist in the franchise, with Bonnie and Clyde-inspired characters serving as the game’s main focus. Leaked gameplay footage that features two different protagonists—a male and a female—supports this.
According to a Bloomberg story, Rockstar has “spent the last four years reinventing its culture and aiming to become a nicer, more progressive firm” in an effort to improve workplace culture. Grand Theft Auto VI will have a female Hispanic protagonist as part of the revisions, making her the first playable female in Rockstar history. It is yet unknown who the second protagonist is and how they will interact.
There have been previous reports about female playable characters in Grand Theft Auto 6. The game will have “several playable characters,” including one female character that is set up to be “intelligent,” with a focus on technology and hacking, noted whistleblower Tom Henderson earlier claimed.
According to Schreier’s assessment, unlike earlier installments of the series, “a woman who is Hispanic would be one of a couple of prominent protagonists in a plot inspired by bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde.” joking about oppressed communities.

But this may not always be the case. GTA 6 was initially supposed to contain three cities and four protagonists, according to Stephen Totilo of Axios. According to these claims, there are now fewer main personalities, much like in the cities.
Except for the characters who are modeled after Bonnie and Clyde, the actual plot is unreliable. However, a number of speculations claim that GTA 6’s plot is heavily focused on the drug trade and is inspired by shows and movies like Narcos and Tom Cruise’s Made in America.
Even though we may have to wait until the games formal reveal to hear anything from Rockstar regarding the plot and characters of GTA 6, the introduction of the first prospective protagonist for the franchise is more than enough to pique our interest.
GTA 6 Gameplay: What do we currently know?

We presently know very little because Rockstar hasn’t provided any official gameplay information. We’re stating that Rockstar is indeed experimenting with some new mechanics for GTA 6 this year based on leaked early development footage.
It appears that robberies and heists are the main focus, and new stealth features have definitely been included. It appears to be quite similar to GTA 5 based on the leaked (since deleted) footage, but with some extra and updated features, such as the ability to lie prone. Naturally, all of this was clearly in the early stages of production, so it’s impossible to predict how GTA 6’s gameplay will turn out.
GTA 6 News & Rumors: what do we know yet?

We’ve compiled all the most recent leaks and rumors that suggest when GTA 6 might release and what to anticipate from the next game below. As always, take these details with a grain of salt because some of them may be outdated, come from sources that have been deleted, or simply be made up by nerdy fans.
Gamers attempt to map the game.
While Rockstar and publisher Take-Two work to address a recent GTA 6 leak, fans are attempting to put together what the game’s open world might look like using some of the leaked footage.
Kotaku claims that GTA forum users are collaborating to make a location map using gameplay footage that was purported to display in-game coordinates. Fans are using programs like Google Earth and Microsoft Paint in an attempt to dodge actually leaked photographs and videos.
The project is obviously highly speculative given that everything in the leak is susceptible to change, and it will be some time before we get to see the official GTA 6 map for ourselves.
Reactions from Rockstar to the GTA 6 leak.
The authenticity of the GTA 6 leak from this past weekend has been confirmed by Rockstar Games. This features “early development footage for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto,” according to a statement the team made on Twitter. The team claims they are “very disappointed that any facts of our next game have been communicated in this manner,” yet they do not comment on the specifics contained in the leak.
There shouldn’t be any delays, according to Rockstar’s statement, which also emphasizes that “we do not anticipate any disruption to our game services or any long-term impact on the development of our current projects.” You can read it in full here, with a promise of an official update “when it’s ready” for the upcoming game.

GTA 6 has a significant gameplay leak.
Grand Theft Auto 6 just had one of the greatest leaks in gaming history, comparable to the one that occurred prior to Half-Life 2’s release in 2003. A user by the name of teapottuberhacker has shared almost 90 videos on the official GTA forums that showcase early-stage gameplay. Due to copyright violations, Rockstar and Take-Two removed them after launch.
Teapottuberhacker updated his initial (now-deleted) article to say that he wants to work with Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive, saying the following:
“Okay, this surprisingly got viral. I woke up to 3,000 Telegram direct messages. Please message me on Telegram at 22559219889638875756 if you are a Rockstar or Take 2 employee trying to reach me, or send an email to [email address censored] ** from your business email account **. I’ll attempt to read through each response shortly because I need to strike a deal.
Announcements for Single-Player DLC Returns
The renowned insider Tez2 has reported that GTA 6 might offer single-player DLC. Tez2 addressed recent reports on how the game could develop over time in an email to GTAForums, saying that “Future content will be developed by Rockstar in the same manner as it was before GTA Online’s popularity exploded.
This suggests that before GTA 6 is released, Rockstar will be preparing the first additional cities and missions that will be added as DLC. It is assumed that “to set aside funds for any new project they undertake following issue VI.
According to Tez2, the towns that will be included in this DLC are “new cities or islands. like North Yankton or Cayo Perico. So with each new DLC, Rockstar may launch a fresh heist for the following iteration of GTA Online. If we’re fortunate, we might occasionally obtain a brand-new city that is fully functional.

This, as Tez2 points out, will be a change from Rockstar’s 2017 statement to Game Informer that it had abandoned plans to provide DLC to GTA 5 single-player back in 2015 in favor of developing Red Dead Redemption 2 and growing GTA Online.
Changing organizational culture
According to the aforementioned Bloomberg article, Rockstar has “spent the last four years reinventing its culture and aiming to become a nicer, more progressive firm” in an effort to improve workplace culture. Grand Theft Auto VI will have a female Hispanic protagonist as part of the revisions, making her the first playable female in Rockstar history.
According to Bloomberg, the game’s creation “was slower than anticipated, primarily because of the epidemic, but also because of these modifications as staff members adapted to work for this new Rockstar. However, many claims that morale is higher than ever and that the cultural shift was worthwhile.”
Rockstar works on GTA 6 and employs staff.
Although Rockstar has already stated that the production of GTA 6 is “well underway,” a recent spike in hiring indicates things could be moving along. According to PCGamesN, Rockstar Games is adding more than 200 new employees to its global studios, with additional positions coming online in the middle of 2022.
Jobs are available in a variety of development fields, including UX, production, animation, and art. They are also accessible at a large number of developer studios worldwide. Granted, not every assignment has to do with Grand Theft Auto 6, but given that the developer is presently the center of attention for this game, there is a strong likelihood that many of them do.
This comes after Rockstar’s message from July 2022 stating that they are delaying significant Red Dead Online improvements. Rockstar spoke briefly about its future plans for Grand Theft Auto and its emphasis on the creation of Grand Theft Auto 6.

In the past few years, “we have steadily committed more and more resources to the development of the next game in the Grand Theft Auto series, understanding more than ever the need to exceed the players’ expectations and make this next game better,” the post reads. “As a result, we’re making some changes to how we support Red Dead Online.”
I continue to think that the game will debut in 2024 or 2025. I use the word “turbulence” since it wasn’t fluid like other games created during COVID, etc. People are departing and such. June 27, 2022
A technologically advanced engine?
According to a recent source, GTA 6’s graphics can be quite stunning. GTA 6’s engine, according to Rockstar journalist and insider Chris Klippel (via T3(opens in new tab)), was “ahead of its time.”
The new RockstarGames (RAGE9) graphics engine that will be utilized for GTA 6 is probably going to be really great, according to Klippel, who also said that he “was able to get extremely positive feedback, we definitely shouldn’t be disappointed in this matter.”

Introducing Visiblement, a fresh iteration of the dangerous #GTA6 games’ #RockstarGames (RAGE9) graphics engine. I was able to get very positive feedback; so, one shouldn’t be discouraged about this. We talk about a time-advancing engine. pic.twitter.com/v2DVSS4lMJ April 22, 2022
Is this generation’s sole new Rockstar game?
According to a well-known AccNGT leaker, Rockstar is willing to go above and beyond to make GTA 6 perfect. When asked how many games this generation of Rockstar would release, they responded, “If we’re talking about new games, I guess just GTA 6 will be released,” in a January 2022 Q&A.
How many Rockstar games should we anticipate this generation? @Zerkhov On January 7, 2022, I believe that only GTA 6 will be released if we are talking about new games.
Is the GTA trilogy’s first screenshot, buried somewhere?
Fans believed they might be viewing the very first screenshot from GTA 6 because the mansion was the only image in the GTA Trilogy version of San Andreas. Among the images on the Lil’ Probe’Inn UFO wall in San Andreas are pictures of the house that were uploaded on the GTA Forums (via IGN). I think this would be a great plot opening.
Another enigma in the #GTATrilogy. GTAVI? The Lil’ Probe’Inn contains an unidentifiable residence in the middle of a display of UFO photographs. Joking aside, where did this come from? The photographers behind these pictures are ArthurZussman, mussefar03, and mrcharhead. Source for this discussion: https://t.co/F4uXihZS9v pic.twitter.com/1iHP1jiQML 16 November 2021

A user of the GTA Forums discovered an actual home in Boca Raton, close to Miami, that resembles this one. Why this is significant will be clear to those who have been following rumors that GTA 6 may take place in Miami (or at least a fictionalized version of it), and fans will interpret it as a homage to the setting. It was confirmed that the house is from GTA 6 by one Twitter user and self-described Rockstar enthusiast, Matheusvictorbr, in April 2022. Rockstar hasn’t issued a formal comment, though.
You might receive bitcoin rewards from GTA 6 instead of cash.
A well-known Call of Duty and Battlefield insider named Tom Henderson has tweeted that he has learned that some of GTA 6’s objectives will give out in-game bitcoin payouts to players rather than real money.
Henderson claims that bitcoin will coexist with real money as an in-game currency rather than displace it. Henderson asserts that the inclusion of a broker for several cryptocurrencies will bring back the stock market in GTA 6.
These bitcoin payments seem to be given out in accordance with each completed job, but they will actually go to higher-ranking characters who want to send big sums of “untraceable money and rapidly.”
Despite not being called bitcoin, this in-game money will nonetheless be a cryptocurrency.
I just learned that some objectives in GTA 6 would reward you with bitcoins rather than cash. A cryptocurrency broker will be added to the stock market feature when it returns. It’s big for cryptocurrency if GTA 6 makes this option available. June 3, 2021.

A new patent implies more intelligent NPCs
The publisher of Grand Theft Auto, Take-Two, just filed a new patent, which could mean that GTA 6 has enhanced the AI for its NPCs. A publisher filed a patent in October 2020 that seeks to trademark “a system and method for virtual navigation in a gaming environment.”
According to reports, the tale was finished.
An anonymous insider claims that Rockstar’s GTA 6 saga is over.
Grand Theft Auto 6’s plot was finished before Rockstar chief writer Dan Houser left, according to Chris “Liberty93” of Rockstar Mag (a French fan site), and the upcoming GTA will still contain the “spirit” of a regular game. Rockstar.
Chris noted that although Red Dead Redemption 2’s story was “finished” back in 2012, various adjustments were made to it throughout development, which may suggest that GTA 6’s release date is approaching.
Late in 2017 and early in 2018, Chris said, “They were still making modifications, and a lot of little elements were modified.”

Rockstar is losing Dan Houser.
Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has announced that Houser, who has been on a long vacation since the spring of 2019, will formally depart the firm on March 11, 2020. Sam Houser, his brother, is still in charge.
Rockstar Games was led by Houser, who worked there as a writer, producer, and voice actor. Under his direction, the company grew to become one of the biggest in its field. If this will have an impact on GTA 6’s development is uncertain at this time.
The GTA series’ final game, GTA 6, may be released.
Tom Henderson’s guess is more informed than it is specific. However, we decided it was only fair to mention his most current hypothesis, which was just posted on Dualshockers: GTA 6 might be the final GTA game. We’ve included several of his rumors and predictions in this guide.
He acknowledges that it would be unfortunate for such a large franchise to come to an end, but points out that given GTA Online’s enormous popularity and constantly changing geography, Rockstar Games may not have any motivation to continue developing GTA 6.
Rockstar appears to be producing GTA 6 the most epic future-focused video game ever, according to the author, with regular updates that not only provide fans with new content but also keep the environment engaging as it changes.
