The announcement of Invincible’s second season is approaching. We certainly believe so, especially in light of the franchise’s impending 20th anniversary.
The enormously popular animated series, which is in our opinion one of Prime Video’s best shows, has been renewed for an additional two seasons more than 18 months ago. The cast and crew have provided us with a few updates, but other than that, there hasn’t been much information about how Season 2 is coming along. It is now time to learn anything official about Invincible’s upcoming Prime Video release.
You have a lot to catch up on with the news of Invincible Season 2 while we wait. We’ve gathered all the details we could uncover regarding the Invincible season 1 replacement below, including the actors, the storyline, a potential release date, the show’s future, and more.
There are detailed spoilers for both the Invincible comics and its first season below. Season 2 spoilers may also be on the way, but we’ll let you know as soon as we obtain them if we think you should wait to prevent them.

Invincible Season 2 Release Date
Season 2 of Invincible has not yet been given a release date. In April 2021, this was also announced along with the third season. According to lead writer Simon Rasioppa, both seasons have been in the works for longer than fans may have realized.
According to Racioppa, “We’ve been working on this [Invincible Season 2] for a long.” “We are putting a lot of effort into this. In essence, Robert [Kirkman, co-creator of Invincible], works on it every day, and I work on it as well. We discuss it and are aware of it. Though it takes time, we’ve been working on this for longer than I believe most people realize. It’s a sizable show.
Steven Yeun, the principal voice actor for Season 2 of Invincible, was seen on camera as he started recording his lines in April 2022.
The actors will shortly begin recording, according to a statement made by J.K. Simmons, who plays Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man, to DiscussingFilm a month ago. And it appears that some of the show’s voice performers have finished recording their parts for season two, though not the majority. Robot was voiced by Zachary Quinto in the first season, although it’s not certain if he’ll be used again. Initially unable to live outside of his salt reservoir due to genetic abnormalities, Rudy Conners’ artificial host body, the Robot, was revealed to be him in the first season.
Ross Marquand took over Rudy’s voice responsibilities after Rudy’s consciousness was transplanted into his new cloned body in Episode 7, therefore we are unsure if Quinto will make a comeback. The robot has a significant role in the comics, although it’s unclear if these incidents will appear in Season 2, Season 3, or other seasons of Invincible.
Chris Diamantopoulos (Doc Seismic), Fred Tatasciore (Kill Cannon), Clancy Brown (Damien Darkblood), Jeffrey Donovan (Machine Head), Ezra Miller (D.A. Sinclair), and Michael Dorn are additional actors that could make a comeback (War Beast and Tokk). We don’t yet know who will make it, but Invincible co-creator Robert Kirkman has hinted at their comeback (more on that below).
Kirkman has also stated a desire to see more cast members from The Walking Dead in upcoming seasons. Kirkman wants more The Walking Dead actors to join up even though Yoon, Marquand, Laurie Cohen, Michael Cudlitz, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Lenny James have already made an appearance.
I can’t think of any actor from The Walking Dead with whom I wouldn’t want to collaborate again, according to Kirkman, who spoke with ComicBook.com. This cast of actors is excellent. There isn’t anyone I wouldn’t want to invite, including Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Chad Coleman, who provided the Martian’s voice in the first season, is one performer who fervently desires to return. Coleman made light of the fact that Martian Man passed away at the start of the first season of Invincible by being killed by Omni-Man in an interview with the British tabloid The Daily Express.
Coleman declared, “Invincible is obviously wonderful.” “Kirkman and all the other participants are extraordinarily talented individuals. I really enjoyed myself, and I like how it turned out. Just take me back a bit more, guy, I say.
Invincible Season 2 Plot

The comic book series is humorous yet occasionally illogical. Although there are numerous potential routes for Invincible season 2, we already have a general idea of what it might involve. The season one finale and a few indications from the show’s official Twitter account served as the basis for this.
Let’s first talk about the Invincible season 1 finale. After realizing he cannot kill Mark and subjugate humanity for his people and abandon his plan to conquer Earth for the Viltrumite Empire, Omni-Man sobs as he launches into space for an unspecified location.
This storyline ought to be continued in season two. Mark will be responsible for protecting Earth from the Viltrumite invasion and assisting the Coalition of Planets in hindering the former’s plans to expand throughout the universe. Thanks to Allen the Alien’s warning, Mark is already aware that the fleet is approaching. Since Allen will now take on a larger role in the comics, we may anticipate that the bond between the two will deepen in Season 2.
We must also discover Omni-Man/current Nolan’s whereabouts. In the comics, Nolan takes off to invade another planet in an effort to make up for abandoning Earth by working with the Viltrum Empire. More about Mark and Nolan’s relationship will be revealed in the show.
The show should also venture into space, in my opinion. Expect strange settings, even stranger characters, and a story that spans the whole known universe.
Other potential stories for the first season’s follow-up were also hinted at in the season one finale. The Sequids storyline, which is still ongoing, ought to be expanded upon. We are aware that a Martian invaded Earth after assuming the identity of a human astronaut. Additionally, the Sequids now have control of the astronaut who was abandoned on Mars, which might be problematic for Earth if they decide to travel to the blue planet.
The tales of the Titan and War Beast may be retold in more detail. When we last saw them, they had taken control of the criminal enterprise Machine Head and had teleported away from Earth. Their tales continue in the comics, and Kirkman has already stated that Season 2 will see more screen time for the beloved Battle Beast (opens in a new tab). Despite Omni-rampage Man’s on their home planet, the Flaxans appear to be returning in episode 2.
One intriguing piece of information relates to plot points that weren’t even included in the Invincible comic. Kirkman stated in a conversation with Beyond the Trailer(opens in new tab) that he aims to incorporate TV program plotlines that he couldn’t fit into graphic books. Damien Darkblood, who was sent back to Hell by Cecil Steadman in Episode 4, is one illustration given by Kirkman. It’s uncertain, though, whether this will be included in Season 2.
The second season of Invincible’s plot has been further discussed by Kirkman, and it may feature Angstrom Levy, probably Mark’s greatest comic book foe.
Kirkman reaffirmed that Levy would have a role in the second season’s plot after making this revelation.
During the Skybound Xpo Invincible virtual panel, Kirkman announced the following (although declining to say when Season 2 would be released): “Levi truly upends the status quo. You will understand where we are going with Season 2 if you are familiar with the comics and have watched the television series, especially if you carefully consider how we adapted the tale in Season 1.”
While Jason Mantzoukas expressed excitement for season 2 to “present more villains…like Thragg” and other interplanetary elements of the comic book, Kirkman also hinted that there would be “crazy stuff” for TV show fans only.
Mantzoukas gave a brief but intriguing description of Invincible season 2 in a November 2022 interview with Collider(opens in new tab), saying, “I can’t tease anything other than that it’s going to be fantastic, period.” Jason, consider us intrigued.
How many seasons will the Invincible TV adaptation get?
Over the course of Kirkman, Corey Walker, and Ryan Ottley’s 15-year careers, 144 Invincible comics have been published. The first season of the TV adaptation had several plot points rearranged, but the first eight episodes only addressed the first 23 topics. Invincible could end around season 7 or 8 if the current direction of the remaining seasons holds.
It’s possible there are more or fewer of them, according to Kirkman. He claimed that there is “a rough blueprint of where items from the comics will go” in a statement to ScreenRant(opens in new tab). Kirkman has stated that he “sees this going on for five, seven, even 10 years” in an interview with Inverse(opens in new tab). If we run out of comics, we might air 100 seasons.
The latter figure undoubtedly indicates that Kirkman is enthusiastic about his ownership, but Invincible can surely last for at least five seasons. Amazon would be crazy to stop the show after three seasons if people wanted more. However, a lot of it will depend on how many viewers Invincible manages to draw in over the course of the next two seasons.
But will it? Seth Rogen seemed to hint that Invincible might stay on Prime Video through its third season in a conversation with Collider (opens in a new tab). We still don’t know what will happen to the show after season 3, as Amazon acknowledged in response to a TechRadar comment request that “nothing official has been released.”
With its live-action series based on The Boys by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, another R-rated comic, Amazon has seen great success. Therefore, there is no reason why Invincible’s second season couldn’t build on the strengths of its predecessor and last for many more years.
