Spider-Man movies in order

Spider-Man movies in order of release

One of the most recognizable superheroes of all time, Spider-Man didn’t appear on the big screen until 2002’s Spider-Man, directed by Sam Raimi. Since then, Spider-Man has also established himself as one of the most lucrative superheroes, with each of his movies smashing box office records.

While it can be convenient to watch films in the order they were released, some of us enjoy reading stories in order to experience them in a completely different way. It depends on how you choose to view the 15 films that make up the complete Spider-Verse plot (pun intended!) because the release order and chronological order of the Spider-Man films and spin-offs are identical.

This guide will assist you in your quest to watch every Spider-Man film and its spin-offs, with the exception of Silk: Society of Spiders. We have you covered whether you want to see simply the main flicks starring Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland or want to get the entire picture and strengthen your Spider knowledge with a variety of spin-offs.

The Spider-Man films and their spin-offs may all be seen in chronological sequence if you follow the instructions below, which are largely spoiler-free. Additionally, there are other listings of Spider-Man movies with various actors or in chronological order.

How many Spider-Man movies are there?

There are more than a dozen movies in the Spider-Man world overall, but only nine of them feature Spider-Man. Eight of them are live-action movies, including three with Tobey Maguire, two with Andrew Garfield, three with Tom Holland, and one has a bunch of spiders in it.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Beyond the Spider-Verse are the two officially announced sequels to the animated movie Into the Spider-Verse. There will probably be another Spider-Man film, but Marvel hasn’t made that announcement yet. Despite the fact that Amazon only recently revealed a series based on the Silk comics.

How to watch the Spider-Man movies in release order

The many Spider-Man channels are listed first in the order of their release. Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire began their trilogy in 2002, followed by two Andrew Garfield-starring Amazing Movies from 2012, the current Spider-Man, Tom Holland, and his MCU solo excursions, notwithstanding the Avengers films.

  • Spider-Man (2002)
  • Spider-Man 2 (2004)
  • Spider-Man 3 (2007)
  • The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
  • The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
  • Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)
  • Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

This would allow you to see Spider-Man’s on-screen in stunning detail. However, concentrating only on the Spider-Man movies won’t give you the complete picture of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker because his movies are very closely related to the Avengers movies. Next step, then!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe, commonly known as the MCU or the modern Marvel movies, are in part so successful and well-liked because they blend several characters to tell a much bigger overall tale. The Spider-Man movies with Tom Holland are added to this mix, and Spider-Man Maguire and Garfield have finally been included in this main MCU plot thanks to the events of No Way Home.

As a result, you’ll also need to watch at least a couple more MCU films to really understand how Tom Holland’s Spider-Man developed into the hero we know and love. You may argue that in order to grasp the complete picture, you should watch every MCU Marvel film, but we’ll leave that discussion for another time. If you want to know the complete story of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker and how it connects to the early Spider-People as well, you should at the very least watch these major MCU films.

  • Spider-Man (2002)
  • Spider-Man 2 (2004)
  • Spider-Man 3 (2007)
  • The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

Okay, now that we’ve gotten down to the nitty-gritty, some esoteric comics are in order. In the same way that Spider-Man has appeared in many ways on television and film, he also made an appearance in Marvel comics. In addition to the “Ultimate” Spider-Man reality, there are also numerous alternate Earths (such as Earth-9500, Earth-982, etc.) and the Earth-616 universe, where he first appeared in the thoughts of his creators, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.

Thus, Earth-616 is regarded as the “core” Spider-Man experience, from which many movies ultimately take their cues. This is the origin of the famous storyline: after being bitten by a radioactive spider, the protagonist loses his beloved Uncle Ben and develops feelings for Mary Jane. You can… roughly… chart a course through each variation of Spider-Man that more or less follows the steps stated in this first comic incarnation. Different films take different components of these early stories, modifying them as they go.

For instance, Andrew Garfield’s movies are in first place in this indicator because Peter Parker loved Gwen Stacy before he loved Michael Jackson. Tom Holland’s films bypass the backstory surrounding the spider bite and Tobey Maguire’s uncle’s passing, meaning the Tobey Maguire films came before Tom Holland’s movie in which Spider-Man tramples Tobey Maguire and jumps right to Mary Jane. Even while it’s not really scientific, it’s an intriguing alternate method of watching movies that mimic comic book arcs. Let’s go even though it might not be the ideal choice for a first viewing.

The ultimate Spider-Man combination is here! First, some background information: Spider-position Man’s in the film is unclear, largely due to all the agreements that come with the character’s on-screen presence. Despite the fact that Sony really owns the Spider-Man character rights, Disney owns Marvel, and Marvel is owned by Sony as a result of an ongoing agreement with Marvel from when Marvel was an independent publisher. This is why it took so long for Spider-Man to join the MCU; it took years for a decision to be made regarding the superhero’s involvement in Civil War in 2016 and following adventures.

However, it also gave Sony the freedom to pursue the character in ways unrelated to the MCU (at least not directly). There are a number of related villain movies in development, including the Venom franchise, as well as the great animated feature Into The Spider-Verse and its imminent sequel. Since Spider-involvement Man’s in the MCU appears to be ended, it has been rumored that Sony is now attempting to weave all of these threads together to create its own interwoven Spider-Man world.

Will it materialize? The unknown. However, if you feel the need to watch Spider-Man related movies until your last drop of web fluid, here it is.
